HARY SCHWEIZER - bassoon

Despite his unfamiliar name, Hary Schweizer is Brazilian, born in the city of Mafra, in Santa Catarina.  Having studied music in Curitiba, Paraná, and in Munich, in Germany, he initiated his work at the University of Brasilia (UnB) in 1977 as bassoon professor, also teaching chamber music and music history.  In the area of chamber music (wind quintet, reed trio, piano recitals and other combinations) he coordinated and actively participated in the “Weekly UnB Concert” series, which led to some of the recordings in this work (Marlos Nobre, Cláudio Santoro, Emílio Terraza).  Based on a national scarcity of instruments he embarked on a path unknown to him, that of bassoon maker, having since then reached significant achievements recognized by specialized international publications.  Within the specific area of the bassoon, he sees the fruits of his work with pride:  his bassoons and his students.
